MiSTEM Network Region 9 is thrilled to announce a strategic partnership with UACJ Whitehall Industries to provide space for a new practice facility dedicated to our local FIRST Robotics teams. This unique business and school partnerships will inspire young minds through STEM education and hands-on robotics competitions beginning this fall, 2024.
UACJ Whitehall Industries, a leader in high-quality aluminum products, has generously offered space within their facility to serve as a practice area for our robotics teams. This new venue will allow our students to design, build, and test their robots in a safe and spacious environment, preparing them for upcoming competitions.
"We are incredibly grateful to UACJ Whitehall Industries for their support and commitment to the next generation of engineers and innovators," said Brian Dotson, MiSTEM Regional Director. "This partnership will provide our students with the resources and space they need to excel in the FIRST Robotics competitions, fostering creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills."
While the provision of space is a significant step forward, our partnership with UACJ Whitehall Industries is also seeking additional funding to purchase essential supplies needed for the practice facility. These supplies include:
· Carpet: Necessary for the practice field surface to mimic competition conditions.
· Perimeter: Essential for setting up a safe and accurate practice field boundary.
· Field Elements: Critical components that simulate real competition challenges and scenarios.
Community members, businesses, and supporters of STEM education are invited to get involved. Contributions of any size will go toward these vital supplies. Financial contributions can be made directly through the West Shore Education Service District (West Shore ESD). For more information about our partnership with UACJ Whitehall Industries, our funding needs, or how to contribute, please contact Brian Dotson at briandotson@wsesd.org or (231) 898-1548.
"Investing in our robotics program is an investment in the future," added Mike Wegener, VP of Extrusion at UACJ. "By supporting our local teams, you're shaping the next generation of skilled professionals who will drive innovation and progress in various fields," said Mike Eby, VP of Operations at UACJ.
