At ASM Tech, high school sophomores have the opportunity to apply to our early college program, located on the campus of West Shore Community College. Selected students jump ahead one year, (after their junior year), and can earn more than 60 college credits for free, with the focused support of our staff, and the companionship of their cohort. This all happens while each student develops an individualized educational path that matches his or her career aspirations.
Currently, our students are graduating with an average of 62 college credits. Approximately 72% graduate with an Associate Degree - all at no cost!
Here are some thoughts from students in the Class of 2024:
"ASM Tech has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and allowed me to explore my future options and dip my feet into the college world without having the financial burden."
"ASM Tech has provided me with an opportunity to find myself and truly see what I can do while also being given just enough of a lifeline that I feel safe experimenting, feel safe pushing the boundaries of the education I seek. In ASM Tech I feel like if I stumble, I won't really fall."
"ASM Tech has been the best thing that has ever happened to me... Not only have I gained valuable college experience, but I gained new friendships and connections that I am so thankful for. I have grown so much not only as a student but also as a person, and it wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for ASM Tech."
"ASM Tech has given me a headstart on college, a real insight into who I am as a person, and how much potential I have as a student."
Here's what a parent had to say...
"ASM Tech was such a good decision for (name) and our family. In this program the student completes 5 years of high school (the last two are solely at West Shore Community College) and can earn an Associate degree and a HS diploma.
She found her “tribe” in this program.
She earned an Associate of Science degree covered-in-full (books included) by the program.
I got another year with her at home with us before sending her off to a university. She had the college academic experience without the added stressor of learning to live away from home.
She still is technically an incoming freshman as she pursues her bachelor’s degree. As such she is eligible for the same scholarship opportunities as all freshmen.
But she’s also considered an incoming junior and has earlier access to dorm choices, parking permits and other perks usually reserved for upperclassmen.
ASM Tech prepared my daughter for the future and saved us thousands of dollars. I’m so grateful our daughter chose this path."
Sophomore presentations take place in local high schools during January and February. Ask your high school counselor for further information. See you all in 2025!
We will begin our application season again in January of 2025. At that time we will be holding in-person and virtual meetings to help families learn more. Check back here for updates!
