Annual Math Counts Competition huge success!
Brian Dotson, MiSTEM Region 9 director recently coordinated the annual
Math Counts Competition at West Shore Community College on Tuesday,
March 14.
As the region 9 director, Dotson coordinated the 10 middle school teams,
arranged for the facilities, and worked with business partners, including
Nordlund & Associates, Harsco Rail and PCA. Dotson also served as
master of ceremonies, which included telling math-related jokes to the
tough middle schooler audience.
The competition started locally in 1984 under the direction of Norlund &
Associates, consulting engineers based in Ludington.
This year’s competition included 179 middle school students representing
10 area schools including Hart, Ludington Area School District, Ludington
Area Catholic, Mason County Central, Mason County Eastern, Pentwater,
Shelby, Walkerville, Kaleva-Norman-Dickson, and Manistee Area Public
Schools.
